Aby Holden

From a rural upbringing in Tamahere, New Zealand – to the vibrant London Indie music scene, singer/songwriter Abby Holden’s next move is to bring her honest lyrics and catchy pop melodies to New York. A talented pianist from the age of 6, Abby started singing and playing guitar in high school, and swiftly moved to writing her own music. At college Abby formed the band “Skyla”, which gained popularity and performed on TV with the song “Day by Day” and received radio airplay in NZ and Sydney, Australia with ‘Believe in Me’.

Recorded at London’s Ritz Studios, her debut album “Flipside” was officially released in the UK on 18th March. The album features remastered and re-recorded tracks from Abby’s ‘Skyla’ days, with a definitive Indie pop and rock sound evoking shades of Sara Bareilles’ heartfelt lyrics, John Mayer’s command of melody, and the vocal range of Amanda Marshall.

Recent interviews with ONFM 101.4 resulted in tracks being added to their playlist, and two songs have been showcased to producer/writer Ali Tennant, a vocal coach for British hit-artist Jessie J. The track, ‘Wrong Tonight’ has been accepted into the running for Suck Free Radio’s 2011 Gubby (Greatest Unsigned Band in the World) Award.

Abby Holden has been picked up by New York booking agent Brian Riccardi from Turnstyle Music to play her first dates in ‘The Big Apple’ starting on the 29th July at The National Underground on the Lower East Side. For the latest live shows visit www.abbyholden.com.
